Loyal to the animals, people and planet.
We act and think with the knowledge that everything we do has an impact, not for marketing purposes, simply because it does. We know our actions affect animals, people, our business partners and our planet.
This belief shapes how we think and act at Prime100. It guides us in our decision making across each and every part of our business, from our purchasing decisions, all the way through to the business partners we work with. Most importantly, it establishes guidelines for every relationship or partnership we form. It steers our decisions on packaging and ensures that every aspect of our business matters. That’s why we’re not afraid to ask questions of ourselves and our partners.
Where are your ingredients sourced?
As part of our commitment in being proudly Australian owned and operated, we always ensure that we’re first supporting Australian farmers and primary producers. We strive to source all of our ingredients from Australian suppliers, however, some are sourced from outside of Australia. When we import any ingredients, we go through a strict process to ensure the items we’re sourcing meet the Prime100 standard, we only source products from partners that align with our values
How do you source your raw ingredients?
All of our raw ingredients we use are sourced from within Australia. Why? This way we can be sure that the ingredients are auditable, and trackable, to ensure the highest quality standards are met. All of our raw ingredients we source come from human grade facilities that are HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) approved facilities and auditable. This is very important to us.
How are you stopping food waste?
Stopping food wastage is very important to everyone here at Prime100 and we’re always looking at ways to reduce it further. That’s why we work so hard on improving our manufacturing facilities and processes to ensure there is little to no waste. If there are any products that are not fit for sale, we donate them to animal shelters and ensure our local community is supported. We also constantly research alternative proteins that can in turn reduce wastage as well as refining plans in our packaging process, making sure everything is used.
Are the animals treated ethically?
As a business, we make sure we’re only buying from approved abattoirs. This is because abattoirs which produce meat for human consumption have standards compliant with their State or Territory animal welfare legislation. Abattoirs must also adhere to animal welfare aspects such as requirements for humane handling, stunning and slaughter of animals. It is important that the partners we source meat from align to our business values.
In feeding trials, how are the animals kept?
Feeding trials are conducted in-home via participating pets using a variety of dog breeds.
Does Prime100 have an approved supplier program?
Yep. Meat suppliers are selected based on HACCP standards that are consistently demonstrated. We also have other management certifications along with a full-time Quality Assurance team. Part of this process is auditing suppliers to ensure we approve of their processes.
Do you comply to industry standards?
We are fully compliant and hold licences with the Victorian regulatory body, PrimeSafe. PrimeSafe is the statutory authority responsible for regulating meat, poultry, seafood and pet food in Victoria, Australia. PrimeSafe’s objective is the provision of safe, wholesome meat, poultry and seafood for all consumers, pets included.
